Vice President for Education and Research of Kosar University Addresses International Conference at Magtymguly Turkmen State University

According to the Public Relations Office of Kosar University, Dr. Masoumeh Moazzen Sorkhi, Vice President for Education and Research, delivered a speech on behalf of the University President at the opening ceremony of the International Conference entitled “Key Directions of Sustainable Development Goals: Environmental Issues and Climate Change” held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University.

Dr. Moazzen Sorkhi attended the conference upon the official invitation of the President of Magtymguly Turkmen State University. In her remarks, she highlighted the importance of scientific and international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges, stating that universities play a vital and undeniable role in advancing knowledge, conducting applied research, and developing innovative solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

The Vice President for Education and Research of Kosar University further emphasized the need to strengthen academic collaboration among regional and international universities in order to protect the environment and promote the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The conference was held on June 4–5, 2026, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and World Environment Day. The international event brought together a total of 347 participants, including professors, researchers, experts, and graduate students. Among them were 130 representatives from 60 higher education institutions and research organizations across 25 countries.

Participating countries included namely the Russian Federation, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Korea, the Federal Republic of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Romania, Denmark, the Republic of Iraq, India, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mongolia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia.

The conference served as an important platform for international academic dialogue and cooperation, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences on environmental sustainability and climate change issues.
